Electrification of Erode-Tiruchy railway line completed
After inspecting the section that connects Salem Railway Division and the Tiruchy division, Chief Electrical Distribution Engineer S Ramasubbu said, the electrification of the 141 km section between Erode and Tiruchy has been done at a cost of Rs 110 crore.

The electrification of railway line between Erode and Tiruchy section has been completed and the Chief Electrical Distribution Engineer who inspected the section on Friday said that it would be operational from first week of February after the CRS (Commissioner of Railway Safety) inspection that would be done shortly.
After inspecting the section that connects Salem Railway Division and the Tiruchy division, Chief Electrical Distribution Engineer S Ramasubbu said, the electrification of the 141 km section between Erode and Tiruchy has been done at a cost of Rs 110 crore.
The Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE), working under the Ministry of Railways, is executing the project as part of which three electric sub stations will be constructed at Pettavaithalai, Pugalur and Vellianai. Around 4,200 masts and 210 portals are being installed in the entire stretch for the overhead electrical wire, said Ramasubbu. It is said, Railway Electrification organisation has launched electrification works in the Tiruchy– Karaikal broad gauge section via Thanjavur and Tiruvarur. With track doubling currently apace in the section, CORE authorities have begun work in Thanjavur to Karaikal stretch.
