OPS seeks Modi’s date for MGR fete

Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam has said that the party would seek a date from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the proposed grand valediction ceremony of the MGR centenary celebrations in Chennai.

Responding to a query, he said it would take place soon and plans were afoot for the same.

“Soon after we get the dates from the PM, we would have the celebrations here,” he said. The state had completed its MGR centenary celebrations in all districts except the city. On launching the party mouth-piece, Panneerselvam said a newspaper, an AIADMK mouthpiece, would be launched soon and works are under way for the same.

Panneerselvam, who later left for Delhi to participate in the pre-budget meeting called for by the Union government, said that he would also meet the Prime Minister, if a time slot was allotted for the same
