Spectator dies in jallikattu at Pudukkottai

A spectator of the Pudukkottai jallikattu event was gored to death at Vadamalaippur near Pudukkottai on Wednesday while 13 participants suffered simple injuries.
A jallikkattu was organised at Vadamalaippur near Annavasal in view of annual Karuppar temple festival at Pidiriyamman thidal of the village. It was inaugurated by the district collector S Ganesh in the presence of S Selvaraj, Superintendent of the Pudukkottai district police, A Ramasamy, DRO and other authorities.

Though he was rushed to Pudukkottai GH, he succumbed to injuries. Similarly, 13 participants who suffered injuries were treated by the medical team near the venue.
Before commencing the event, the bull tamers took a pledge to adhere to rules. A total of 500 bulls were enrolled. Of them 485 were let into the arena. The bulls were brought from Pudukkottai Tiruchy, Madurai, and Thanjavur and 195 bull tamers participated.
