However, none got injured in the incident. Though the cracker units had withdrawn their 25- day strike on Friday and announced to resume operation on Monday, Vijayakanth along with his family members, Premalatha and LK Sudheesh and party cadre staged a protest at Sivakasi to save the cracker units.

In the protest, in which very few party workers attended, Vijayakanth delivered his address. When he was criticising the AIADMK, former chief minister Jayalalithaa and her close aide VK Sasikala, miscreants threw bricks on the stage.

Because of the incident there was some tension and his private security guards went in search of the miscreants. But, they could not be found. Later, his party cadres claimed that the stones were accidentally thrown by boys, who were playing near the stage.

Later, Vijayakanth along with his family visited the Andal Temple in Srivilliputhur. Addressing the media there, he said that he would support Ramachandra Jeeyar in his fast at Srivilliputhur.

When asked about the entry of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan into politics, he replied that though they are seniors in cinema they are juniors to him in politics.
