Woman goes to police after photo with marriage offer goes viral

A woman has lodged a complaint with City Commissioner of Police after her photo along with a jallikattu bull was circulated on social media, with a message that she would marry the man who tames the bull in the traditional sport that is scheduled to take place on January 21.

The 21-year-old woman from Tiruchy whose picture along with a jallikattu bull was circulated on social media and an old man going on announcing the offer of marriage went viral for more than a week.

Meanwhile, the woman who spotted it online was shocked and soon, she informed her parents with whom, she approached the City Commissioner of Police, A Amalraj and appealed for action against those who had circulated her photo with the bull. Since the Commissioner was not available, the Deputy Commissioner Sakthi Ganesh received the complaint and had asked the Cyber-Crime officials to investigate.

The woman, who met the reporters, said that some unknown social media people have played with her photo and she wanted to initiate action against them.

She also urged to stop forwarding the video.

Tamer dies in Manapparai jallikattu
TIRUCHY: A bull tamer was gored to death by a jallikattu bull while the event was on at Kalingapatti
near Manapparai on Saturday. It is said that while the jallikattu event was in progress, Ranjith Kumar (21) of TVS Tollgate in Tiruchy, who was a participant, was standing in the area and taming bulls. Suddenly, one of the bulls, kicked Ranjith on his chest badly. Soon, he was rushed to the GH. However, he was declared brought dead. As many as 11 tamers suffered injuries during the event. Nearly, 429 bulls and 243 tamers participated in the jallikattu event.
