In a rare gesture, Velusamy, JM III honoured Swapna Suja, a grade I constable, by presenting a memento, at a meeting with police officials on Monday evening. In the last one year, Suja had helped in clearing 85 cases, which were pending from 2003 to 2012.
“As I am deputed on court duty, I used to produce the witness promptly in courts and serve summons without delays in crime cases like chain snatching, theft and robberies. Currently, there is nil ‘court listed’ pending crime cases in the Singanallur station,” said Swapna Suja.
As a token of appreciation, the judge presented a memento and urged other police personnel to emulate her and help the court in clearing pending cases in other stations too.
Swapna Suja was not informed of the felicitation and the accolades came as a surprise to her during the meeting. She has been serving in the uniformed force for the last 15 years.
