Rafeeq was a friend of ISI mole Hussain

National Investigation Agency, while probing the Pak spy Sakir Hussain case in Tamil Nadu had arrested Rafeeq in July 2014. Rafeeq was already arrested by CB CID and lodged in Puzhal prison when the NIA sleuths arrested him.

He was in touch with two associates of Sakir Hussian and gave them the fake notes with face value over Rs 2.5 lakh.

Sakir Hussian, a Lankan native, was arrested by TN police in April 2014 for his alleged espionage activities for Pakistan’s ISI. He was reportedly collecting details of US consulate in Chennai, Israel mission in Bengaluru, Indian naval bases in Kochi and Vizag besides Madras high court and AIR Chennai.

The TN police had also arrested two of his associates Siva Balan, a Lankan native and Mohamed Salim of Chennai with counterfeit currencies. Two weeks later the Malaysian police had arrested Sakir’s associate named Mohamed Husnie in Kuala Lumpur who had confessed the plot to attack foreign missions in Chennai and Bengaluru. Sakir Hussian case was taken over by NIA in July 2014.

NIA arrested Rafeeq for his links with the spy case.

Rafiq, 31, a resident of Vysarpadi was arrested along with his associate in June 2014, by CB-CID with fake currency notes with face value over Rs.9 lakh. The CB-CID team had also seized country-made pistol and two magazines of bullets along with counterfeit notes from them.
