Dinakaran needs a party for the allocation of common symbol to his supporters, who would contest in the civic body elections. But, he is also continuing the fight to retrieve the AIADMK and the MLAs backing him could not join his new party. This is his first meeting with Sasikala after he filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking a direction to the Election Commission to allow him to retain the name AIADMK (Amma).
This meeting also comes after the Madras High Court had adjourned the verdict on the appeal against the disqualification of 18 MLAs supporting him. Dinakaran, who spoke to reporters after the meeting, said he had met his aunt after 15 days.
“I wrote what I wanted to convey her on a paper and she gave short replies in writing, as she was observing a vow of silence till January 31,” Dinakaran added. Dinakaran’s supporter Thangathamizhselvan said, “He needs a party to contest the local body elections. After winning the civic polls, Dinakaran will retrieve the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol.”
