Andhra Pradesh forest department staff on Sunday arrested Ajith, a native of Vellore, along with an accomplice on Sunday for possessing red sanders, worth around Rs 10 lakh.

In their petition, the students said Ajith has no father and comes from a poor family. He tried to earn some money through various ways, including driving of vehicles. A studious boy, he never missed classes and ensured that he was on time for all classes, they added.

Ajith’s mother Amalu came to the Vellore collectorate on Tuesday and submitted a petition to officials seeking their help to release her son, who she said was being misused by somebody. “He would never have volunteered to drive to that area if he had known the truth,” she added.
