Jallikattu was conducted as a part of the Maruthayi Amman Temple and Gurunatha Swamy Temple festivals, with the two temple bulls participating in the event. The bull tamers were asked not to tame the temple bulls. Earlier, Collector K Veera Raghav Rao administered safety pledge to the bull tamers. Following this, the bulls entered the Vadivasal and as the event was conducted after 12 years, every bull was given a gold coin.

The jallikattu arena was set up in an area of 8,000 sqft, in which 753 bulls from various districts participated. Close to 600 bull tamers took part in the event. The event was conducted according to the rules laid down by the Supreme Court and all safety measures were followed.

Actor-producer, Udayanidhi Stalin, cheered the event and gifted gold coins to the bull owners and bull tamers. Viji Kumar from Mangalakudi was adjudged the best bull tamer, as he tamed 16 bulls and was gifted a bike. A bull raised by Rajendran from Ayyur near Madurai was adjudged the best bull and he was gifted a car.
