“The Centre should not succumb to Karnataka’s pressure and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should come forward to save the welfare of farming community,” PMK youth wing leader and MP Anbumani said.
He urged the state not to show any negligence in the issue and pressurise the Centre to formulate the CMB. He wanted the CM to call for an all-party meeting on the Cauvery issue. Similarly, R Mutharasan, state secretary of CPI, said this is high time for both the state government and Centre to start preliminary works for forming the CMB. “Forming of the CMB has been a long-pending issue and even the Centre was earlier directed to form the board, but it failed to do so,” he said. VCK too echoed similar views.
