Pugazhendhi attributes motive to PM’s push for merger of factions

Stating that the very fact Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to unite Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam revealed that the PM did not want to bring in TTV Dinakaran, said AIADMK’s Karnataka secretary V Pugazhendhi on Monday.

A staunch Dinakaran supporter, Pugazhendhi took a dig at the AIADMK leaders by saying, “At present, the party is witnessing a dharma yuddham over splitting of sand quarries. Moreover, the PM knew that he will not have any hold in TN if Dinakaran is involved in the government.” He added, “If the Prime Minister is really interested in the state welfare, he should have called EPS, OPS and TTV for peace talks.”

Referring to the Cauvery verdict, he said both the ruling and opposition parties in Karnataka were united in refusing water to TN. However, in Tamil Nadu the opposition and ruling parties were in disarray. “Absence of a leader in the calibre of Jayalalithaa to face the situation has emboldened Karnataka leaders,” he noted.
