19 kg of gold seized in Pudukai district
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths on Wednesday seized 19 kg of gold near the coastal Jagathapattinam village in Pudukkottai district and arrested two persons. They were interrogating them in a secret location at Thondi.

Sources said there were reports of suspicious movement of boats in Muthukuda village in the coastal region of the district and the DRI sleuths who received reports regarding the activity were closely monitoring it.
Around 5.30 am, the DRI sleuths followed Selvakumar (36) of Ponpethi near Jagathapattinam and Maruthupandi (39) of Mimisal who were moving in a suspicious manner on a bike with a bag. The duo was proceeding to Thondi via Muthukuda from Jagathapattinam. The officials stopped them near Muthukuda and inspected their bag. To their surprise, they found 19 kg of gold worth Rs 6 crore in their possession without any supporting document. They seized the gold and arrested the duo.
