The Governor was on a visit to Tiruchy and received petitions from the public and the farmers at Circuit House here. Among them, a group of farmers led by Puliyur A Nagarajan, state president of TMC (farmers wing), submitted a petition and appealed to Purohit to urge the PM to constitute the Cauvery Management Board at the earliest for the welfare of Tamil Nadu farmers.
They said around 25 TMC excess water during the monsoon was being wasted every year without proper storage capacity in the state. To prevent the water draining into the sea, check dams should be built and the Cauvery-Vaigai-Gundaru linking project should be expedited.
