According to sources, the suicide attempt came to light after one of the four girls vomited in the classroom on Wednesday afternoon.
When teachers inquired, the girl told them that she, along with three other classmates, had consumed poison by mixing it in apple juice. Meanwhile, the other three girls also complained of stomach pain and other problems.
After first-aid at the school, all the four were rushed to Tirumangalam GH, where they were said to be in stable condition after treatment.
They also reportedly told different reasons for them taking the extreme step. While two of them said that teachers showed more attention on one of their classmates, who survived a suicide attempt earlier.
Expecting the same kind of treatment from teachers, they too consumed poison. The third girl complained that she was not allowed to watch TV in her house, while the fourth one said that she consumed as her three friends did so.
On Thursday morning, Collector K Veera Raghav Rao visited the hospital and inquired the health condition of the girls. He said that the girls needed counselling as there was no proper reason for their suicide.
