There are around nine cases of murder pending against him. He is also involved in several cases of assault and attempt to murder in Chennai. Special teams of the city police were on the lookout for him following the crackdown on a gang of rowdies at a birthday party recently in Chennai suburbs.
The police said that Radha was gangster Binu’s rival who too had surrendered following the arrest of his associates.
Radha was once Binu’s aide but he overshadowed Binu in 2014. Police inquiries revealed that Radha was planning to kill Binu and his men during the birthday bash. On the other hand, sources claim that Binu’s aide Kanagaraj, who organised the party, wanted to kill Radha and another gangster C D Mani at the party. When Radha came to know that the police are searching for him, he hid in Kerala. The police got the whiff of him when he was unwell and needed medical care.
Radha then shaved his hair, altered his appearance and fled first to Madurai and then to Tiruchy. He continued to change his hideout to escape the police. But he finally surrendered fearing retaliation by rival gang members and a police encounter, he told the police.
Following his surrender, he was taken to Salem Central Prison and has been remanded in judicial custody till February 26. Sources from the police said that they would seek Radha’s custody to interrogate him on his criminal activities.
