Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar, who participated in Jaya’s birth anniversary in Otteri on Sunday, said, “Installing Jayalalithaa’s statue was a proud moment not only for party workers but also for Tamils across the globe. We received feedback from social media about the depiction of our leader and the party high command will act on it.”

The statue was jointly unveiled by party coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and joint-coordinator and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at the party headquarters on Avvai Shanmugam Salai, in Royapettah on Jayalalithaa’s 70th anniversary.

While meme-makers had a field day criticising how the statue did not resemble Jaya at all to trying to discover who it was modelled on, RK Nagar MLA TTV Dinakaran slammed the ruling dispensation for their lackadaisical attitude. However, Milk and Dairy Development KT Rajenthra Bhalaji, on Sunday, said that the statue had come out beautifully.
