In a first, TN Governor visits International Maritime Border Line

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, visited International Maritime Border Line (IMBL) bordering with Sri Lanka and inspected the safety measures provided to Rameswaram fishermen, on Monday.

This is the first time that a Tamil Nadu Governor visited the border line. 

Purohit went to Indian Coast Guard (ICG) station in Mandapam on Monday evening and took a hovercraft to reach IMBL. According to ICG officials, the Governor was keen on getting details of the protection ICG offers to Rameswaram fishermen and steps taken to prevent their arrests by Sri Lankan Navy. 

Sources said that the security details were explained to Purohit with the help of maritime maps and the  GPS equipment.
