The government has set up 43,051 booths in all Primary Health Centres, Government Hospitals and Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) centres, noon meal centres, schools and other important places, it added.
The government has called upon all parents to bring children in the age group of 0 to 5 years, including the children who have been given two drops of Polio vaccine in the first phase, for vaccination this Sunday.
The booths will function from 7am to 5pm. To identify missed out children, a serious challenge for the success of the campaign, their little finger on their left hand will be marked, the release added.
As part of the campaign, 1,652 transit booths will be set up at all major bus stands, railway stations, toll plazas, check posts and airports during the campaign days so as to cover even the children on travel. In addition, as many as 1,000 mobile teams have also been formed to administer polio drops to children from families living in remote, inaccessible and migrant areas, said the release.
In all, around two lakh personnel from the Health, ICDS, Education and other Government departments and volunteers will participate in the second phase of the immunisation campaign. It may be noted that Tamil Nadu is stepping into its 14th Polio Free Year due to the successful implementation of Pulse Polio campaigns in the past.
