Vaiko accuses BJP of destroying state’s resources

Addressing reporters here, Vaiko, who came to attend the marriage function of a party worker, said, “Senior Advocate Fali S Nariman was his close friend. But, in Cauvery issue, he argued for Karnataka and placed misguiding arguments in the Court.” 

However, Tamil Nadu did not have a standard advocate to deal with the Cauvery case. The lawyers kept changing every year. “Because of it, the state government’s arguments became weak and ultimately, we lost 14.75 tmc to Karnataka,” he added. 

“Even the Supreme Court and Centre were against Tamil Nadu not just because of the upcoming Karnataka Assembly election, but as the Centre has decided to destroy the resources of Tamil Nadu,” he alleged. “The Centre plans to destroy fertile lands by curtailing Cauvery water supply, so that they can be handed over to big corporates,” he added. 

On the issue of H Raja’s comments on Periyar and host of topics, Vaiko said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah tactically support him. “That’s why he is able to speak continuously in that fashion,” he said.
