Police said M Anbalagan (60), was residing in Velayutha Nagar in Jayankondam for the past two years, while his wife Vasantha (53) and three children stayed at Okkanatham in Jayankondam block in Ariyalur district.

Neighbours found Anbalagan hanging inside the latter’s house under mysterious circumstances during the wee hours of Monday. They informed his wife Vasantha about the death of Anbalagan. His wife, Vasantha, in turn, informed the police. On information, police reached the spot, recovered Anbalagan’s body and sent it to Jayankondam Government Hospital for post-mortem.

A case has been registered under IPC section 174 (unnatural death) based on the complaint lodged by his wife Vasantha.

Anbalagan allegedly had an illicit relationship with a 45-year old woman, who used to frequently visit his house. Anbalagan had not been visiting his wife and children, police said. Cops have now launched a search for the unidentified woman, who had absconded soon after his death. Further investigations are on.
