AIADMK to decide next course after TTV spells party name

Even while the disqualified MLAs and three other legislators are getting ready to take part in the launch of the new party by RK Nagar legislator TTV Dinakaran on March 15, the ruling AIADMK indicated that it would wait for the unveiling of his party flag and name before taking any legal step.

With Dinakaran’s caveat in Supreme Court dimming the chances of a stay for the ‘Pressure Cooker’ symbol before the party launch on March 15, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar on Tuesday said the ruling party is not against anyone, including Dinakaran launching a party.

When reminded about the Minister’s declaration that the ruling party would initiate legal action against the Delhi High Court order, Jayakumar said, “Anyone, including Dinakaran can launch a party, but no one can lay claim to the AIADMK and its symbol of Two Leaves. We will not be opposing passers-by starting their own parties.” He thus indicated that the party would legally move against Dinakaran only if the RK Nagar MLA used the ruling party’s name and flag.

However, Dinakaran’s lawyers are not leaving anything to chance and monitoring the developments in the Supreme Court and the Madras High Court. His lawyer Raja Chendur Pandian said, “We will continue to keep a watch since protecting the order is more important than obtaining it.”

Dinakaran’s followers too are confident that the ruling party would not be able to stop their party launch in a very short time.
