Justice AD Jagadish Chandra granted the anticipatory bail on the condition that they should appear before the Thallakulam police in Madurai daily for the next two weeks.
Vetrivel (first petitioner) and Thanga Tamilselvan (second petitioner) had contended that they had gone on March 1 to the Secretariat to meet officials to complain about the irregularity in awarding tenders for executing major road projects to close relatives of politicians in the ruling faction of the political party.
While the second petitioner went inside the secretariat, the first petitioner was surrounded
by the media at the main gate when two inspectors posted at the Secretariat gate abused him in foul language and pushed him by hands and physically manhandled him, the plea said.
Further, while this commotion was going on, one of the police officers received instructions and registered a case against both, despite the fact that the second petitioner was not present at the place of occurrence, the plea added and noted that the ruling faction, to take revenge on the rival faction led by VK Sasikala and TTV Dinakaran, has been indulging in filing such false cases against active members of the latter.
