Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami moved the resolution while DMK working president and Leader of Opposition, MK Stalin said that the DMK would pledge full support towards the resolution. “If the Centre fails to set up the CMB and the CWRC within the stipulated time, all the MLAs should resign,” Stalin said, adding, DMK has always made welfare and livelihood of farmers their topmost priority. In his reply, Palaniswami said, “It is Amma, who single-handedly made strenuous efforts for publishing the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT). But, during DMK’s regime, its approach towards Cauvery row was not satisfactory.”

Intervening, Deputy Leader of Opposition, Durai Murugan said, “Even while CMs like MGR, M Karunanidhi and J Jayalalithaa dedicated themselves towards the Cauvery issue, it was Kalaignar, who strove hard for the same issue and was all for upholding farmers’ rights in the state.”
