A textile park in an area of 10 acres at Sethurapatti is scheduled to begin soon as the land for all these facilities have been handed over to authorities.

“The industrial park by SIPCOT would attract major investments in the district which would provide a lot of employment opportunity as large and medium industries are to establish their units,” said Collector K Rajamani at an entrepreneurship awareness programme here on Wednesday.

According to SIPCOT’s requirement, the district administration has identified a 1,000 acre land in Manapparai covering villages like Kannudayanpatti, K-Periapatti and Chathirapatti. The land has been handed over to SIPCOT which was satisfied with the location and an approximate fund of Rs 107 crore has been initially sanctioned for the purpose.

On the post-Budget 2017-18 announcement of establishing trade facilitation centres in Madurai, Salem and Tiruchy districts, the Tiruchy District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association that has been promoting small-scale industries in the district suggested that the district administration sanction the 9.4 acres of land available in Panchapur along the Tiruchy-Madurai bypass and SIDCO has given a green light for the proposed site and has sanctioned Rs 11 crore to establish various facilities.

Similarly, 10 acres to establish a mini-textile park has been identified at Sethurapatti near Srirangam. Officials with the regional office of textile commissioner, under the Union Ministry of Textiles, asserted that Tiruchy has a vast potential to market textile products after their visit in 2017 after which the district administration started land acquisition process. The process of handing over the land is in its final stage.

Rajamani, who had constituted a special team to speed up the process, said, a district like Tiruchy has a high potential for manpower and once it starts functioning, it would attract more investors and boost employment.
