EPS, OPS conflict reconciled with party postings

In a major resolution of conflicts between the supporters of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam after the merger, the two leaders jointly announced the office-bearers for key posts of the party on Friday.

The team of organising secretaries will include former ministers ‘Panrutti’ S Ramachandran, C Ponnaiyan, RS Rajakannappan, S Gokula Indira, V Somasundaram, N Subramanian and Buddhichandran. Besides, Ministers ‘Dindigul’ C Seenivasan, KA Sengottaiyan, D Jayakumar, CVe Shanmugam, ‘Sevoor’ S Ramachandran and senior leader JCD Prabhakar have been appointed to the organising secretary posts.  Among the supporters of Panneerselvam, who makes a comeback for the organising secretary posts include ‘Natham’ R Viswanathan, V Maitreyan, PH Manoj Pandian, SP Shanmuganathan and Adhirajaram. Vaigaiselvan has been nominated as the deputy propaganda secretary. 

The district secretary posts for Theni, North Chennai, South Chennai, Vellore (East) and Thanjavur (North) which remained vacant after the supporters of Dinakaran, who were holding the posts were removed from the party. Agriculture Minister R Duraikannu would be the district secretary for Thanjavur North, a party press release said. 

The tussle for the North Chennai district secretary between the supporters of OPS and EPS was resolved with the bifurcation of the unit into two. RS Rajesh, who was with OPS during the split and TG Venkateshbabu, who backed EPS had been nominated as secretaries for the two units. 

Earlier, speaking to reporters, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar said there was no conflict in the party for the posts to be filled after the removal of Dinakaran’s supporters. If the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister held discussions for three hours, it should not be construed as an argument between the two and it could be for resolution of issues
