Thambidurai blames Congress for not supporting CMB cause
With the AIADMK MPs being criticised for shadow boxing for the BJP in the Parliament by preventing the no trust motion from being taken up for voting, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai slammed the Congress and the Opposition for not standing up for the Cauvery cause.

He asserted on Monday that his party MPs would continue to stall Parliament until assurance was given on the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC).
Refuting claims of the Opposition, Thambidurai said that stalling Parliament session would only bring embarrassment to the BJP, while the Congress has a tacit understanding with the BJP on non-formation of the CMB.
“If Congress was concerned, it should have joined us long ago in the House. Instead, they keep pointing fingers at us,” Thambidurai said and added, “We do not have any regard for the trust-motion.”
Asked whether the AIADMK had sought time to meet the Prime Minister, the party leader said that their high command had already sought time. “Parliament is the highest forum and that is why we continue to raise this issue here than knocking on the doors of the PM’s office,” he said.
“Telugu Desam Party and YRS Congress began their stir much later. We have already made it clear that we would not relent until the CMB was formed. If it has to continue beyond the deadline which expires on March 29, we have no qualms in continuing our protest. We would not allow the House to take up any other business until such time,” Thambidurai noted.
The lone agenda of our party is to secure the rights of Tamils and we would up our ante until that is done.
