DMK man stabbed in group clash over community hall

The issue started when Anaicut panchayat union councilor and panchayat union party president Manimaran demanded construction contract for a community hall which was to be build at the block development officer’s initiative. 

Objection was raised by local AIADMK functionary Mahendran. On Tuesday, Mahendran unloaded sand and construction material at the site. Manimaran also followed suit and brought in his load. A quarrel ensued and Manimaran reportedly slapped Mahendran. The latter called in his supporters and attacked Manimaran, knifing him in the stomach, chest and shoulder, sources said. 

DMK workers admitted Manimaran to the Vellore CMC Hospital and then attacked Mahendran’s house in the same area. They ransacked the premises and injured Mahendran, his daughter-in-law Jayasudha and her father Rajendran. All of them were later admitted to the Vellore Government Medical College Hospital, Adukamparai. The police are investigating.
