Rajini faces revolt: 107 mandram members threaten to quit

Thamburaj, a government official, who took Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) to join Rajinikanth’s pre-political movement, was made secretary for Dindigul district on March 15. However, he was suspended a few days ago reportedly without an explanation.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by Rajini Makkal Mandram on Saturday clarified that Thamburaj was posted as district secretary to strengthen the organisation. “It is not true that he was given the post based on his financial status. Further, during the district executive meeting, Thamburaj did not invite members of the organisation, but held one with those loyal to him,” the statement read.
“Even as this went against the organisation’s principles, a statement regarding this was issued from the headquarter that no person would hold such a post (district secretary) and Thamburaj was temporarily relieved of it,” the release noted. The statement also warned of disciplinary action against members who tried to disrupt the functioning of the organisation.
