“The reason for the time taken between Rajinikanth’s declaration that he will enter politics which was made on December 31 last year and the formal launch of a party is the appointment of office-bearers for Rajini Makkal Mandram,” he explained.
Rajini Makkal Mandram, which has been structured as a nodal body for all the fan clubs of Rajinikanth across the state is expected to be converted into a party. Sathyanarayana Rao said, “There is still some work left to be done. After meeting with the members (of Rajini Mandram) from all districts, an announcement will be made by Rajinikanth.”
The chief coordinator VM Sudhakar and state secretary Raju Mahalingam have been entrusted with the role of selection and appointment of officer-bearers at various levels for all the districts. Over thirteen districts are yet to see formal appointments in place.
On the question of Kamal Hassan launching his party earlier this year, Sathyanarayana, along with some other members replied with a famous movie quip from Rajinikanth - that even when Rajinikanth is late, he would be the latest.
Though the launch of the party seems imminent the mandram has already seen its first setback as Dindugal district secretary SM Thamburaj was stripped of his post. He was suspended from the primary membership for his disruptive conduct. This move has stirred unrest among the members in Dindugal district.
