A platform for students, who wish to apply online for a scanned copy of their answer sheets for the purpose of re-totaling and revaluation, will also be created subsequently through schools.

About 80 lakh answer scripts of Classes 11 and 12 students will be scanned and hosted online. The work is expected to start a day after the results are announced.

“We will be soon shortlisting a company to undertake the scanning job. There will 40 lakh answer sheets each for Classes 11 and 12 students. These will be scanned and uploaded,” a senior official of the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Education Services Corporation, which was entrusted with the job, told DT Next on Monday.

He said each page will be scanned separately using automatic document feeder scanner and will be stored in the PDF format.

“The tied thread and stapler pins in the answer sheets will be removed before scanning,” the official said, adding, “Using proper cutting equipment, 4mm width from the left margin of the answer sheets will be cut without changing the page order.” Each answer sheet will be clipped and placed separately in a thick plastic cover before scanning and converting the data into a PDF file.

The answer sheets of those who appear for diploma in elementary education will also be scanned.

“There will be about 20,000 answer scripts,” he added.

According to him, the entire scanning work will be done at the Directorate of Government Examination premises.

“More than 50 high-tech computers with scanners will be employed for the work,” he said. On release of results in the second week of May, candidates will be given one week to apply for the scan copy, the official added.
