The Minister inaugurated the NEET residential coaching camp for students in a private engineering college in Kovilpatti. Addressing reporters after the event, he said that the government had started coaching classes for NEET throughout the state in the last one year and the situation has turned favourable for students to crack the MBBS entrance test in the state.

When asked about the repeated incidents of attacks on journalists in the state, the Minister replied that journalists are safe and the attacks are isolated occurrences. Government is always in support of journalists and will ensure their safety, he added.

When asked about the TNPCB report on Sterlite, the Minister replied that TNPCB had submitted a detailed report on Sterlite Copper to the state government and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami is discussing about the report with the higher officials.

Under this situation, if the report is released, the next step forward in the issue could not be taken and so it would not be appropriate to make the report public, noted the Minister.
