Bail for cop accused of kicking bike, killing pregnant woman

The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Thursday granted bail to Kamaraj, Traffic Inspector, Tiruchirappalli, who was booked on charges of kicking a bike and killing a pregnant woman.

Kamaraj, in his petition, had stated that when he was on duty in Thuvakudi, Tiruchy-Thanjavur road, on March 7, Raja and his pregnant wife Usha were on a bike and despite being asked to stop, Raja didn’t do so. 

However, after traveling for some distance Raja slipped, and Usha too feel off the vehicle and died on the spot. Kamaraj claimed that he was not involved in Usha’s death and still Boiler Plant Police filed a a case against him. 

In the petition, the cop also stated that Raja was carrying a grinder on his bike and hence he lost balance and fell. He was not responsible for the accident and had already served 35 days in prison, he added. “I will fully cooperate in the investigation and so the court should grant me bail,” prayed Kamaraj. Justice GR Swaminathan granted him bail.
