Elementary education diploma exams from June 4
The Directorate of Government Examination, Tamil Nadu, on Friday announced that the diploma in elementary education exams for private candidates will be held from June 4.

A notification was issued in this regard by the Education Department. Accordingly, the examination will be held until June 21.
The government order said that the diploma in Elementary Education Examination is held once in a year during June–July. Candidates who have appeared earlier and failed, private teacher candidates, junior elementary grade teachers and teachers holding pre-schools were among those eligible to appear for the exam.
In addition, those who possess teacher training course certificate (now in service), who have completed three years of service in a recognised school and satisfy other conditions regarding the marks in the general educational qualification can also appear for it.
A Board of Practical Examiners will be constituted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for each DIET/TTI separately. Each board would comprise one chairperson and two members (two from DIET and one from TTI). Members of the Board will be nominated based on years of experience in teaching pre-service courses. The seniormost among them will be the chairperson.
The Board is responsible for verifying the internal assessment marks in the required subjects. The Board will observe the teaching of 20 per cent of the examinees and verify the relevant records of teaching practice of all the trainees and finalise of the marks of all papers. The Board will directly forward these marks to the Director of Government Examinations.
The syllabus is as formulated by the SCERT and approved by the government and currently followed in Teacher Training Institutes for regular students.
