Railways begins work on underbridge at Bodinaickenpatti

The long-pending demand of residents of Bodinaickenpatti, seeking better connectivity to Salem city, will soon get fulfilled with the railways commencing work on a underbridge near Salem railway station.

The project is being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 2.83 crore. The underbridge will replace the existing narrow waterway, provided for passage of rainwater below the railway track. 

“The waterway gets flooded in case of rains, posing difficulty for motorists who use the facility to cross the railway track,” said a railway spokesperson.  

In view of the construction work, railways have effected major changes in the operation of goods and passenger trains till April 20. The proposed underbridge will enable even bigger commercial vehicles, such as buses and lorries, to pass through.
