Tension over murder bid in Kovilpatti court

The incident happened in the morning when the lawyer, Mahendran of Kadambur, also the secretary of the Kovilpatti Bar Association, was inside the premises along with another lawyer Arun Kumar when a speeding car hit him from behind. 

In the impact, Mahendran fell and the person who was driving the vehicle rushed out with a sickle to hack him. However, Arun Kumar and policemen stationed in the court caught the assailant and prevented him from attacking Mahendran. 

When the police quizzed him, he revealed he was Vijayakumar, former brother-in-law of Mahendran. He also said Mahendran played a major role in getting him and his wife, Vanitha, separated. Hence, Vijayakumar had decided to kill Mahendran. 

The injured lawyers were taken to the Kovilpatti GH for treatment. An attempt to murder case has been filed against Vijayakumar.
