He also said that the statement of BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao that his party would function in such a way that Karnataka would not be affected on the Cauvery issue is an indicator of the Centre’s plan to submit a draft scheme without Cauvery Management Board during the Supreme Court hearing on May 3.
On the Niramala devi case, he added, “Seeing the involvement of affluent persons behind the college professor, the way the police arrested her, giving more than seven hours had raised doubts about police intentions.”
Citing the BJP leader’s statement on Cauvery, Dhinakaran said the statement only indicated that the board would not be formed even after the Assembly elections and people of Tamil Nadu would be deceived till the Parliament elections. He also accused the state government of not exerting enough pressure on the Centre. He wondered whether a government exist in the state at all.
“It is not the job of the BJP to decide whether the formation of the CMB is favourable or unfavourable to any state. It is the duty of the Centre to implement the Supreme Court verdict,” he said in a statement here.
