Farmers’ party stages flash strike for Cauvery Management Board

The sudden mass gathering of protesters at the Junction railway station here on Friday gave the RPF personnel posted there a tough time, as they had to control around 300 members of the Uzhavar Uzhaippalar Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIUUDMK) who turned for the protest demanding the Cauvery Management Board.

According to the RPF, around 11 am, AIUUDMK cadre gathered in front of the railway station led by its founder president J Jothikumar holding the party flag and a banner, demanding that the Centre to establish the CMB.

Suddenly, they started raising slogans and soon the RPF personnel along with the police tried to stop them though they went on raising slogans and proceeded towards the station, stating that they are on the way to stage a rail roko. Though the police prevented them from entering the station, arguments ensued between them and continued until past noon. The RPF tightened security in railway stations soon after a PMK cadre was electrocuted in Tindivanam during a recent protest.
