Tension over desecration of Ambedkar statue at Tindivanam
Tension prevailed at Tindivanam in Villippuram district following a road blockade by volunteers of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) on Wednesday.

According to sources, unidentified persons desecrated an Amebedkar statue at Thiruvadi on the Marakkanam-Tindivanam Road garlanding it with chapels, past midnight .VCK volunteers, who noticed this, resorted to an agitation demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits.
They put up a road blockade there affecting vehicular traffic.
Senior police officials and Marakkanam Tahasildar Srinivasan held talks with the agitators, who also demanded that a security ring would be set up for the statue with a surveillance camera. The officials assured to do the needful in consultation with senior officials, following which they called off the stir.
Meanwhile, two unidentified persons on motorcycle forced the shop keepers to down their shutters near the over bridge at Tindivanam. As the shop keepers started closing their shops, the duo started attacking buses coming that way. The windscreens of 10 Tamil Nadu Government buses were shattered in the attack. As police reached the spot, the two escaped on their motorcycle. Police pickets have been posted in the areas to prevent any untoward incidents and police are investigating the case.
