In Tiruchy, Electricity minister P Thangamani held a review meeting with officials on the projects in the Tiruchy zone comprising eight districts.

Addressing the meeting, Thangamani said any complaint on power supply would be redressed immediately. He also said the number of complaints had come down as compared to the previous year and asked the officials to fulfil the needs of people in an efficient manner. He said even minor power cuts would be rectified immediately.

In Chennai, in the wake of complaints of power outages from parts of the city and most of the suburbs, Tangedco chairman Vikram Kapoor inspected the sub stations and reviewed the action taken on the complaints of consumers.

The government had announced that there is no power shortage in Tamil Nadu and the Tangedco has surplus power. However, people had complained of power cuts from parts of Chennai besides the southern suburbs of Karanaipuducherry, Mayilima Nagar and Guduvanchery.

Following complaints, Kapur inspected sub power stations in Taramani, Velachery and Ottiyambakkam. He also inspected bill collection centres and Tangedco offices in the city on Wednesday. He visited the consumer redressal cells and enquired about the complaints from the people and the action taken on them.

Kapoor instructed the officials to attend to the complaints and also held discussions with Tantransco managing director (Distribution) S Shanmugam, MA Helen, Director (Distribution) and Director A Axlium Jayam Mary, besides chief engineers, superintendent engineers, executive engineers and other officials.

The officials are holding zonal meetings to ensure proper power supply and are rectifying the power distribution issues immediately in case of power cuts.
