In a statement on Saturday, PMK MP Anbumani Ramadoss said, “Once again Kadiramangalam village faces major threat, as the oil leak has damaged crop. Even after non-stop protests by the people, such ab act is highly condemnable.” Ever since the ONGC set up oil wells in 2002 in Kadiramangalam, the ecological system and agriculture had been largely affected in the surroundings, he noted.
“It is also said that a fire broke out after an oil leak. Though the officials stopped pumping oil from the wells temporarily, the pipelines were not changed,” the PMK leader said. Considering the safety of the people, the state government should take urgent measures, he added.
