Party headquarters will decide on Sasi brother’s admission, says Thambidurai

When Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami is keeping equal distance from Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran and his uncle Dhivakaran by a crisp comment that both of them would vanish, other AIADMK leaders continue to express conflicting opinions about Dhivakaran’s admission into the party.

Despite the initial comments of Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar that the AIADMK would not admit anyone from the family of sidelined leader VK Sasikala, there were contrary opinions from the delta districts, from where Dhivakaran operates.

In an obvious retort to Jayakumar’s comments, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai, who spoke reporters in Karur said, “Jayakumar and myself cannot decide if Dhivakaran could be admitted to the AIADMK or not. The party’s headquarters will decide on the subject.” A similar opinion had been given by former minister and AIADMK deputy coordinator R Vaithilingam.

When asked if the AIADMK would continue to insist on the Cauvery Management Board if the BJP exerted counter pressure on the state government, Thambidurai said his party’s insistence would be more in such a situation.

He said the AIADMK had never trusted any national party on the Cauvery dispute and asserted that it would not bow to any pressure from the Union government and win the rights of Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister had said both the parties would vanish soon, even while the reporters pointed out that Dhivakaran is making statements supporting the AIADMK.
