Sources said Tamil Nadu would vehemently oppose the Centre’s plea to provide more time as it has already requested for more time citing the sensitive Assembly Election in neighbouring Karnataka.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, camping in Delhi, held a review meeting with senior officials from PWD (Public Works Department), CTC (Cauvery Technical Cell) chairman R Subramanian and the senior counsels representing the state in Cauvery case.
The meeting took place in Tamil Nadu House where the CM would stay before leaving for Chennai later on Thursday.
During the meeting, EPS is learnt to have sought to know the outcome of the Cauvery hearing and provided necessary advice in line with the state’s stand on seeking a Board meeting to manage the affairs as well as the Water Regulation Committee as provided for in the final order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.
The apex court on its previous hearing of the case in April rapped the Centre for not doing anything to implement the February 16 verdict.
