Tiruvannamalai Collector undergoes HIV tests at government medical camp to create awareness
In a bid to create awareness among the public, Tiruvannamalai Collector K S Kandasamy tested himself for HIV at a government medical camp on Friday.

This follows a medical camp for non-communicable diseases conducted for Collectorate staff in the Collector’s office campus. A total of 334 staffers, including 203 men and 131 women, were tested. The camp revealed that 22 suffered from blood pressure and another 42 had diabetes. Similarly, six women were diagnosed with the initial stages of ovarian cancer and another with breast cancer.
ECG tests were done for 127 people and HIV tests for 175 staffers, including Kandasamy.
The result was negative. He said, “I asked them to do a HIV test on me to make the public aware that there was nothing shameful on undergoing such a test.”
