Speaking to media reporters, TNAU Vice-Chancellor K Ramasamy on Monday said online counselling will be held for all UG courses offered by TNAU, its 14 constituent colleges and 26 affiliated colleges across the state.
The online application process would begin from May 18 and end on June 17. Verification of documents for special reservations would be held from June 18 to 20. The rank list will be released on June 22. After the release of the rank list, the first phase of online counselling will be held from July 9 to July 13 and second phase from July 23 to July 27.
Counselling for special reservation will be held on July 7 and for non-resident Indians on July 17 and July 18.
“This will avoid the hassles of students coming all the way to participate in the counselling sessions in Coimbatore. For the last four years, the university had been receiving applications online and this year counselling will also be held online. The students and parents are advised to read instructions carefully before filing applications and in choosing colleges,” said the V-C.
From this year, TNAU has also introduced a new system, in which students can select top five colleges of their choice. “If a vacancy arises, the student can switch to the college of his/her choice even after joining an available college at the time of counselling,” Ramasamy said.
Of the 3,422 seats for agriculture, science and technology courses offered by TNAU and its constituent and affiliated colleges, 65 per cent will be filled through the state quota and the rest will be filled by the colleges from the list of students, who apply online on the TNAU portal.
Besides this, 15 per cent of seats in government colleges will be allotted for students taking All India Entrance Examination for agricultural courses conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
