Though the directorate will publish the results on its official website – tnresultss.nic.in – the details will also be sent through SMS to the cell phone numbers provided by the students this year.

In addition, the directorate is also expected to send the results through email on request from schools.

“All the data in connection with the examination results have been stored. All details including analysis will be published by 9.30 am onwards on Wednesday,” a senior official from the Directorate told DT Next on Tuesday.

In order to reduce the anxiety of the students to know the results, the details will also be made available in online in other two government websites – www.dge1.tn.nic. in and www.dge2.tn.nic.in.

“Provisional mark sheets, which could be used for applying higher studies, can be downloaded from www.dge.tn.nic.in. This mark sheet is valid for 90 days from the date of publication of results,” he said.

Stating that a provision has been made to apply for scanned copies of answers scripts after the results is published, the official said the scanned copy of these candidates would be uploaded on the website.

“This procedure enables the students to see their evaluated answer sheets directly and put forth their genuine demand by way of either to request for re-totalling of marks or for revaluation of answer scripts.”

According to the official, in order to ensure safety and security, the mark certificates issued to the candidates have been added with certain security features including 2D bar code and photograph to easily identify its genuineness.

“In addition, for the first time, the names of the candidates will also be recorded in Tamil,” he said. Till now, the certificate had the student’s name only in English.

Like CBSE, the directorate will not be releasing the toppers’ list this year in a bid to reduce the stress that students go through. In 2017, the overall pass percentage for Class 12 recorded a marginal increase to 92.1 percent, as compared to 91.4 percent in 2016.

Parents, teachers anxious, but students gear up for college admissions

With just less than 24 hours left for the announcement of Class 12 board examination results in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, result fever has gripped the students. The examinations, especially in science subjects, were comparatively tougher this year, leaving even school authorities and parents wondering about the students’ performance.

“Although the exam went well, I am still tense. The results will decide the path for my higher studies,” Sai Kumar, an engineering aspirant from Chennai told DT Next on Tuesday. He is hoping to score more than 95 per cent to secure a government engineering seat in the state.

“I have already registered my application online for engineering admission,” he added.

His schoolmate K Anand, who is pursuing Commerce group, is confident that he would get good score in the exams to get into a good city college. “It is always a tense moment to wait for the results even if you have written the exams well,” he said.

He also appreciated government’s initiative not to publish state ranks as it would put pressure on the students.

At many schools, several Class 12 students were seen consulting with school authorities and teachers since Tuesday was a day ahead of the results.

“Even though I too am curious to know my student’s performance, I have repeatedly told my students not to worry too much about the outcome,” S Kavitha, a teacher from a higher secondary school in Pammal said. “It is my duty to relieve my student of the pressure,” she added.

Several parents were seen anxious to know their children’s performance, as they need to help decide the future of their kids.

“Plus Two score is vital for students to decide their future. It is quite natural that it will be a tense and anxious moment for all the parents,” said K Shalini, mother of a student.

She took a day off from the office to offer emotional support to his son. “Wednesday will be a more tense day after the results are declared,” she added.
