Over 40,000 appear for TANCET

Several thousand students appeared for the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) for admission to MBA, MCA, ME, M Tech and M Arch programmes on Saturday amid tight vigil.

As part of the two-day exam schedule, candidates who had applied for ME, M Tech, M Arch and MBA courses appeared on Saturday. Over 40,000 students wrote the examinations at various centres, sources said.

About 9,000 applicants are expected to appear for MCA examination to be held on Sunday. The MBA course, offered by the Anna University, government and aided engineering colleges, arts and science colleges and many self-financing engineering colleges, is under the purview of the Directorate of Technical Education and Directorate of Collegiate Education.

The syllabus for MBA will evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify data and apply it to business decisions, their English language and graduate-level mathematical skills.

Similarly, admission for ME, M Tech and M Arch courses offered by Anna University, government and aided engineering colleges and self-financing engineering colleges for the seats surrendered will take place through the single-window counselling system.

From this year onwards, candidates must fill up their application and submit the same along with other documents online. Candidates will be able to download their mark sheets from the website within ten days from the date of publication of results of the entrance test.

The State government has authorised the Anna University to conduct the examination on its behalf.
