The people are facing a set back after the dangerous decision of the Union government to allow the oil companies to fix the prices. He also asked the BJP government to explain how the prices which were in control till the end of Karnataka Assembly elections suddenly begun to shoot up after the elections.

He said the BJP had kept the prices of petrol and diesel under control for their political gains and had burdened the people after the polls. At present the crude oil prices at the international market remained at 80 dollars per barrel and it is estimated that it would reach 100 dollars per barrel in a few days. If that happens, the prices of petrol and diesel are unconceivable.

He also said the highest tax on fuel in South Asia is levied by India. He said the government of Edappadi K Palaniswami is showing no concern for the problem. The Central and state governments which are keen on increasing the income through taxes on petrol and diesel should change their attitude and reduce the taxes, he said.

The Socialist Democratic Party of India state president Tehelan Bhakavi too condemned the increase and demanded the cancellation of all taxes on fuel by the state and Union governments.
