Two tourists killed, 11 injured as van rams tree in Coimbatore
In an early morning accident on Monday, two tourists, including an 11-year-old boy, were killed and 11 others were injured after the van in which they were travelling rammed a tree near Annur on the outskirts of Coimbatore.

Sources said that a group of tourists from Dharmapuri were heading to Ooty in a van. When they were travelling on Annur-Mettupalayam road around 3.30am, the driver lost control and the van rammed a tree.
In the impact, two persons, Rishi (11) and Srinivasan (24), were killed on the spot, while 11 others sustained injuries. The injured were taken to the government hospital at Annur. The Annur police have registered a case and further investigations were on.
Five injured in mishap In another accident, a tourist bus faced a similar fate when it rammed a tree on Ooty-Gudalur ghat road on Monday. As many as five tourists were injured in the mishap.
The bus had 15 persons on board, all residents of Maharashtra, who were returning after attending three-day religious function in Ooty, according to police.
The bus driver Madhukumar (45) reportedly lost control, while negotiating a sharp curve and the vehicle hit a tree.
Following the cries of tourists for help, public rushed to their rescue and pulled them out of the ill-fated vehicle.
