‘Will protest closure of government schools’
Citing media reports of closure of hundreds of primary schools in the state, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran said such a move would affect the education of rural children and threatened a protest if the plans are not dropped.

In a statement issued here, he said government schools are not run for commercial purposes, but the anti-people government is planning to close the schools. When a government school is closed, the students who had to shift to another school faces numerous difficulties causing a set back to their education.
Previous governments headed by K Kamaraj, MGR and J Jayalalithaa had provided food for children to encourage education of poor children in government schools, he added.
